Beutel, Goodman & Company Ltd. is a Canadian company founded in 1967 as a privately-owned Canadian investment management organization. The founding partners focused their efforts on value oriented investments identified through comprehensive internally generated research. These standards are the foundation from which the firm has grown through three generations of operating principals.
Today, the company has over $40 billion of assets under management (90% institutional, 10% retail/private wealth), and specializes in the management of Canadian, U.S., and international equities in addition to fixed income and balanced mandates for institutional and individual investors.
The firm’s fixed income style is active, seeking to add value to the benchmark through management of duration, yield curve and credit risk. Credit exposure is gained through the use of high-grade corporate bonds. Our risk-constrained process employs extensive proprietary modeling for scenario analysis, coupled with an in-depth analysis of all factors affecting the fixed income markets. The result is a portfolio solution for Beutel Goodman’s clients of moderate risk, based on an economic outlook that our fixed income team deems most probable.
For equity investing, Beutel Goodman applies a fundamental, bottom-up value selection process which produces favourable returns over time and provides a margin of safety in weak financial markets. Beutel Goodman’s focus is to build on wealth over the long term by preserving capital and mitigating downside risk.
Beutel Goodman is committed to its objective of delivering enhanced risk-adjusted long term performance through the consistent application of our investment philosophy. Our proven success has been achieved by an experienced team of professionals with strong internal research capabilities.
