TORONTO – April 26, 2021 — Beutel Goodman is pleased to provide clients and partners with an update on recent changes to the investment teams.
Fixed Income
Ryan Laird, MBA, CFA is joining the Beutel Goodman team as Credit Analyst, Fixed Income, effective today. His initial credit-industry coverage includes Telecommunications, Media and Technology.
Ryan has more than a decade of credit-research experience, most recently as a Senior Credit Analyst at Equitable Life of Canada, where he was responsible for in-depth, fundamental research and analysis on Canadian corporate bonds. His primary industry focus was Oil & Gas, Telecommunications, Real Estate and Canadian banks.
Several members of the Beutel Goodman Fixed Income team have also been promoted in recognition of their service and efforts. The promotions, effective February 16, were the culmination of over five years of intensive team building, process refining and credit research, and reflect the team’s deep commitment to generating superior risk-adjusted returns for clients over the long term.

Canadian Equities
With the addition of Ryan Laird, the transition of Mary Crowe from the Fixed Income team to the Canadian Equities team is in its final stages. As noted in the announcement dated December 7, 2020, Mary’s coverage responsibilities will include both the large- and small-cap portfolios, in keeping with the team’s existing cross-portfolio collaboration efforts.
U.S. & International Equities
Ryan Fitzgerald, who joined Beutel Goodman in May 2020, will be taking on co-lead responsibilities for the Global Equity strategy alongside Colin Ramkissoon. As a result of this move, Glenn Fortin will focus on his co-lead roles for the U.S. Equity and North American Focused Equity portfolios.
Our approach to equity research and portfolio structure continues to be team-based and driven by our bottom-up investment process with the co-lead managers responsible for ultimate portfolio decision making.
