TORONTO—August 12, 2022—It is with great pleasure that Beutel, Goodman & Company Ltd. (“Beutel Goodman” or “BG”) announces that Sue McNamara, newly appointed Head of Credit, Fixed Income, has also been appointed to the newly created role of Head of Responsible Investing at Beutel Goodman, effective immediately.

At Beutel Goodman, we are committed to the integration of environmental, social and governance (ESG) criteria into our investment analysis and selection process for all accounts we manage. Our approach to responsible investing (“RI”) also reinforces our dedication to active ownership through engagement, proxy voting and collaboration.

As Head of Responsible Investing, Sue will be responsible for BG’s RI governance and the consistent application of our RI approach firm-wide, including our ESG framework, execution, and communication, and will report to the Management Committee on all RI initiatives. BG’s Portfolio Managers/Analysts will retain responsibility for all security-level decisions, using the BG ESG framework in their analytical processes and corporate engagement activities.

Our ESG approach will continue to be facilitated by Beutel Goodman’s ESG Working Group, led by Sue and Eva Grant, Vice President, Portfolio Analytics and Responsible Investing, in her role as RI lead for equities. This Working Group is composed of members of our equity and fixed income teams, as well as representatives of our various client channels, and meets regularly to discuss matters pertaining to ESG and responsible investing, aiming to ensure coherence across asset classes and strategies. ESG research is further supported by Rachel Vogel, Vice President, Investor Services, U.S. & International Equities, and Kaili Ma, ESG Analyst.
